Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Servicer Transfer
On July 1, federal loan servicing for the U.S. Department of Education’s PSLF program began transitioning to MOHELA from
FedLoan Servicing.
Due to the unprecedented interest in the limited PSLF waiver we are currently experiencing longer processing times for PSLF forms. Be
assured that if your PSLF form is received by us on time, it will be processed under the limited PSLF waiver rules. See
What Happens When the Waiver Ends on Oct. 31, 2022 for more information on submitting your PSLF form on time.
If MOHELA is your servicer and your PSLF form has been approved, we anticipate receiving and processing payment count
updates from Federal Student Aid under the limited PSLF waiver beginning mid to late October. Therefore, your payment counts may not
reflect the actual count until all the updates are complete. Specifically, new Consolidation loans may have their payment counts temporarily
set to 0 while the payment count update is processing. We appreciate your patience while we work to accurately update your payment counts.
Please log in to mohela.com to manage your loans and check out your PSLF tracker information. If your PSLF information has not yet been
updated, please be assured we are diligently working to make these updates as they are received.
If your loans are serviced by another federal loan servicer and your PSLF form has been approved, please continue to
contact your servicer until you are notified that your loans have been transferred to us. Please do not re-submit PSLF forms for
approved periods of employment.
If your PSLF form was approved by FedLoan Servicing, they will transfer your PSLF form information to us. Please do
not re-submit PSLF forms for approved periods of employment.
If you have FFEL Program loans or Perkins Loans and work in public service but have not consolidated your loans into a Direct
Consolidation Loan, you must apply to consolidate your loans into a Direct Consolidation Loan by Oct. 31, 2022. You can’t
receive credit for time in repayment if you don’t consolidate and submit your PSLF form by the timeframes explained under
What Happens When the Waiver Ends on Oct. 31, 2022.
If you consolidated your loans after May 1 to take advantage of the limited PSLF waiver and you have been notified that the
consolidation process is complete, your new consolidated student loan is being serviced by us. As a first step, we recommend
you create a user ID and password on mohela.com to
access your account. If you submitted your PSLF form to FedLoan Servicing this information will transfer to us.
What Happens When the Waiver Ends on Oct. 31, 2022
On. Oct. 31, 2022, the limited PSLF waiver ends, and beginning Nov. 1, 2022, we’re going back to the normal program requirements for
both PSLF and
TEPSLF.
Don’t panic! You don’t have to submit a PSLF form to MOHELA by Oct. 31, 2022, if you have completed one of the actions below.
If the date signed by your employer’s authorized official is on or after Nov. 1, 2022, the normal program requirements for PSLF and TEPSLF apply.
If your PSLF form has been denied because your employer is not eligible, you may seek review of whether your employer
qualifies for PSLF, using the FSA PSLF Help Tool. Here are some things to know
as you consider seeking this review:
If your PSLF form has been denied because you do not have eligible loans and need to consolidate to be eligible for the limited
PSLF waiver, you must apply to consolidate your FFEL Program loans and Perkins Loans into a Direct Consolidation Loan by Oct.
31, 2022. You can’t receive credit for time in repayment if you don’t consolidate and submit your PSLF form on time. After applying for
consolidation, you must then submit a PSLF form to MOHELA for all periods of
qualifying employment by the timeframes explained under
What Happens When the Waiver Ends on Oct. 31, 2022.
