CASHLoan Discharge (Forgiveness) Options

• Death Discharge: In the event of the borrower’s death, and if MOHELA receives acceptable documentation thereof, such as a certified copy of the death certificate.

• Total Permanent Disability Discharge: In the event the borrower’s federal loans are discharged for Total and Permanent Disability, or with documentation from a physician, the CASHLoan may be eligible for discharge.

Cosigners who meet the criteria above will be removed from the CASHLoan if MOHELA receives acceptable documentation.
